CCADS launched its first Convergent Occlusion program with Dr. Clayton Chan last Friday in Vancouver, BC and from the feedback we have received, it was a great success. The program was sold out with many doctors asking when the next level will be announced. The program itself focused on studying the pros and cons of the existing occlusion philosophies and presenting a comprehensive alternative approach that brings both sides together - Convergent Occlusion. Dr Chan, who has a vast amount of experience in both CR and Neuromuscular, is one of the few doctors who has the depth of experience and passion to be able to bring together a new approach in this arena.
The program included a hands-on component where the doctors could put their learning in to practice. This proved to be a highlight of the day where doctors got to take registrations of their own bites and test out the theory, presented earlier. Dr. Chan, who was approached by CCADS to create Convergent Occlusion was excited by the response to the program. Dr Chan, said, "It is geat to see doctors who, have perhaps been forced to choose one approach over the other in their education, see the benefit of looking at occlusion in a new way that can combine the benefits of both philosophies into a new one. This has been my thinking for a long time and to see it resonate with doctors of all levels, tells me it is the way we need to go".
Dr. Charles Shuler, Dean and Professor, UBC Dentistry made a surprise visit to the program and spent some time chatting with the doctors. CCADS and UBC annouced their partnership last month and this was our first program to be held at UBC.
