Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy sets out the privacy policies and practices for The California Center for Advanced Dental Studies ("CCADS") with respect to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in connection with www.ccads.org (the "Site").  This Privacy Policy is a part of the terms and conditions that are set forth in our Terms & Conditions.  Both this Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions are intended to be legally binding on all users.

In this Privacy Policy, "personal information" means any information about an identifiable individual, as further defined under applicable US laws.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

Except[ckk1]  as otherwise stated, we may use information collected via this Site to improve the content of our site, to customize the Site to your preferences, to communicate information to you, for our marketing and research purposes, and for any other purpose specified.  In addition, we may make full use of all information acquired through this Site that is not in personally identifiable form.  If you provide personally identifiable information to this Site, we may combine such information with other actively collected information unless we specify otherwise at the point of collection.  We may disclose personally identifiable information you provide via this Site to other CCADS affiliates worldwide that agree to treat it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and use it for the same purposes.  We also may disclose personally identifiable information you provide via this Site to third parties that are not CCADS affiliates, as described below.

While[ckk2]  we do not collect personal information about visitors to our site, we do use standard software to collect information for the purpose of tracking activity on our site.  This allows us to better understand how many people use our site and which pages and features are most popular.  The only information we normally collect and store is[ckk3] :

  • The name of your Internet service provider.
  • The web site that referred you to us (if any).
  • The date and time the pages were accessed.
  • The page or pages you requested.
  • IP addresses of visitors

CCADS collects personal information from you when you subscribe or register for our services, [ckk4] or programs and may from time to time collect additional personal information in the course of providing such services and programs.  This will typically include information such as your name, mailing address, email address, practice information, the kind of request you are making, and any other information necessary to fulfill your request or application.  CCADS uses such personal information as is reasonably required to process your request or application for our services or programs or for contacting you directly.

Contact information, such as your email address, that you provide to CCADS may be used to contact you in connection with our services, products or programs.  For example, depending on which programs or services you have subscribed to, we may use your contact information to provide information or details on the program or service you have selected, periodic newsletters, feedback surveys, notices regarding changes to the Site or regarding relevant new services or products.    Except as otherwise described below under the heading “Disclosure of Personal Information,” we (i) limit access to your personal information to our employees who we believe reasonably need to know in order to fulfill your request, to respond to your inquiries or to do their jobs, and (ii) will not sell, rent or share your personal information.  CCADS may also use customer information for additional purposes that may be identified at or before the time that the information is collected.

When[ckk5]  you submit personally identifying information via one of our account set up or purchase forms, that information is also encrypted, or scrambled, by your browser before it is transmitted back to our web site.  This effectively prevents anyone from intercepting and reading any personal information about you.  Note that this encryption does not take place if you send us email, but only when you use your web browser with one of our site's forms.

Your information may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which CCADS or its affiliates, subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities, and by using this site, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.  CCADS abides by the safe harbor framework as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.

CCADS may disclose personal information as follows:

  1. to third party service providers and to affiliated entities in order to carry out work on behalf of CCADS (such as in connection with fulfillment services, technical support, entities that provide support for CCADS programs, delivery services, and financial institutions), in which case we will require[ckk6]  such third parties to agree to treat it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and use it for the same purposes;
  2. to law enforcement agencies for the purposes of investigating fraud or other offenses (In addition, we reserve the right to use and disclose or share your personal and non-personal information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of this Site’s Terms and Conditions, or as otherwise required by law.);
  3. to legal, financial, insurance, and other advisors or in connection with the sale, reorganization, or management of all or part of our business or operations; and
  4. as consented to by you from time to time, including to fulfill any other purposes that are identified when the personal information is collected.

CCADS will not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with your consent or as required or permitted by law[ckk7] .
